Tampa, Fla. (AP) — In true sunshine state style, Sam Verdisco grew up in a humble swamp. She credits her early love of creative writing to her gator parents, who read her Florida Man bedtime stories.
At age 16, Sam scored her first job: pet-sitting for her next-door neighbor, Carole Baskin, whose cats were the worst. Unfortunately, Sam yanked her arm away from the tigers’ kibble bowls too quickly and tore her labrum. On the bright side, she ended up doing post-surgery physical therapy with John Cena.
Upon completing her shoulder rehabilitation, Sam received several lucrative offers from the WWE, which she kindly declined so that she could pursue copywriting.
